The GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Charlotte’s special interest in children is shown in the thousands of pairs of shoes that have been purchased for needy children by the club for the past 40 years. Working with students recommended by the Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools, Juniors individually take elementary school aged children to Burlington Shoes and the Shoe Dept. for new shoes and socks. The smiles alone on the children’s faces with new shoes prove that Shoe Closet continues to be the most worthwhile project in our community.
